Zinc: Starting to price in supply cuts


Zinc prices are holding ground above last week's multi-month low of $1,763 per tonne at the start of this week, supported by some tentative dip-buying interest. This perhaps suggests the market has begun to price in supply-side disruptions. Nonetheless, in view of the increasing macroeconomic impact of quarantine measure we believe downside price risk will prevail without larger production cuts by miners and smelters to rebalance the fundamentals.
