Indonesia leading global mine supply surge, and will likely accelerate in Q4: Nickel Highlights


Although the Philippines is the second largest supplier of mined nickel in the world, output from this country declined by 0.1% in the first eight months of this year.

The latest data from the International Nickel Study Group (INSG) showed strong growth of 8.1% in global nickel mine output in the first eight months of 2019 compared with the same period of last year. Indonesian nickel miners continued to boost output aggressively, with 28.6% growth in the country over the reporting period. Growth in Indonesian mine output is likely to accelerate in Q4 given further NPI capacity ramp-ups and a rush to maximise ore export quotas before shipments abroad are banned again from January 2020....
