Chinese coking coal prices gain over supply-side concerns: Coking Coal and Coke Market Analysis

The backlog of imported coal awaiting customs clearance at Chinese ports had earlier been affecting the market.

Restocking ahead of the Lunar New Year festival has supported an upward momentum in prices. The rebound in the price for premium hard coking coal, fob DBCT, continued for a second consecutive week as the index surged $5.57 week on week to average $202.14 per tonne in the week ending February 1. Prices have risen more for PHCC cfr Jingtang with the index recovering $6.84 from the previous week to average at $204.27 per tonne last week.
