Demand Analysis:

Strong demand for aluminium products helped boost Novelis’s sales in Q3 FY19
Downstream producer Novelis reported sales of $3 billion in the third quarter of fiscal year 2019, up 3% from the same time period a year ago, with shipments of flat-rolled products up by 1% to 800,000 tonnes.

The company said continued strong demand from automakers and favourable market conditions in the beverage can industry helped driven the company’s strong financial results in the corresponding quarter. Novelis is also in the acquisition process of downstream aluminium producer Aleris, with the deal expected to close in the Q3 2019, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. The acquisition is expected to give both companies a more diverse product portfolio, including in aerospace, beverage can, automotive, B&C, commercial transportation and specialty products.

Rusal expects aluminium demand to grow in 2019
