US producers eye further capacity expansions: Crude Steel Highlights


Crude steel production in China reached a new high of 928.26 million tonnes in 2018, an increase of 6.6% from the previous year, or an 18.0% rise from the low of 786.77 million tonnes hit in 2016.

In November last year world crude steel output rose by 5.8% year on year, with the total for 11 months of the year reaching 1.45 billion tonnes, a 4.7% rise compared with the same period of 2017. The country with the fastest growing production in the first 11 months of 2018, according to the World Steel Association (WSA), was Vietnam, where crude steel production surged by 35.9% year on year.
