HDG prices continue to rise albeit slower ow: American Market Highlights


The upward momentum of HDG pricing that had begun in November and has continued.

The upward momentum of HDG pricing that had begun in November and has continued to see almost weekly gains ever since in approximately nine separate price hike announcements is continuing in 2012. The most recent price hike announcements included a $30/ton increase by Nucor at the beginning of January for all new orders and in mid-January Severstal North America announced a $30/ton increase for all new orders shipped on or after Feb. 27. All the HDG price increases other than Severstal’s have already been fully absorbed by the market, bringing prices to $880-$897/ton, up from about $800/ton at the beginning of November.
