Global DRI demand may be lagging behind supply: Iron Metallics Market Analysis

Among the key exporters, only Venezuela and Malaysia decreased exports over the period by 2% and 13% year on year, respectively.

A relatively slow growth in the global exports of direct-reduced iron (DRI) picked up slightly in 2019 from 2018. As our first chart alongside shows, combined exports of DRI from Venezuela, Trinidad & Tobago, the Middle East region, Russia, India, Malaysia, South Africa and the US, grew by 14% year on year in the first ten months of last year, compared with a 9% growth in the corresponding period of 2018, or 8% in the whole year of 2016.
