China & Taiwan regional data focus: 10 February 2020


Chinese domestic HRC and rebar prices trended down in January as trading activity was brought to a halt by the Lunar New Year holiday.

Supply/Demand Fundamentals: The spread of the coronavirus in China disrupted activity of the steel supply chain and end-users in the country. Blast furnaces continued to operate during the Lunar New Year break, but an extension of the holiday meant that end-user demand has been pushed back further into February, leading to a stock build-up.
