Chrome market set to rebound?: Chrome/Molybdenum Highlights


A continuation of price weakness will not come as a surprise to our readers given our recent forecasts and indeed, slow market activity is often a feature of the early weeks of the calendar year.

Global chrome markets may soon see a price reversal, although the backdrop of price weakness has persisted in most markets during the first few weeks of this new decade.

A continuation of price weakness will not come as a surprise to our readers given our recent forecasts and indeed, slow market activity is often a feature of the early weeks of the calendar year. Many stainless steel mills do not return to standard production shifts until early January following the Christmas and New Year holidays. Meanwhile, the Chinese New Year often falls during late January/early February, reducing activity and thus demand for raw materials there. The recent concerns about a viral outbreak in the country are likely to extend a number of industry shutdowns as well.
