Price stabilization in February may be only a brief respite: European Highlights
After the monthly price falls seen throughout Q4 2019, this year has started in much the same vein, as we expected would be the case.
Prices on the most common grades of stainless steel are set to stabilize in February after a few months of decline but the relief may be short-lived for European producers. Renewed cuts in March look possible as of writing given the recent drop in nickel prices.
After the monthly price falls seen throughout Q4 2019, this year has started in much the same vein, as we expected would be the case. Transaction prices on grade 304 stainless steel have slipped by a further 65/tonne since our previous tracker and now sit at an average of 2,075/tonne (delivered n.Europe basis).
