Demand Analysis:Global aluminium market recorded a surplus of 445k tonnes in the first eleven months of 2019 According to the latest data from the World Bureau of Metal Statistics’ (WBMS), in the first eleven months of 2019, the calculated global primary aluminium market balance recorded a surplus of 445k tonnes, which follows a surplus of 116k tonnes recorded for the whole of 2018. The organisation estimates that demand for primary aluminium for January-November 2019 was 57.22 million tonnes, 707k tonnes less than in the same time period of 2018, or a 1.2% decline y-o-y. Production in January-November 2019 fell by 210k tonnes, or 0.4% compared with the same period in 2018. WBMS put Chinese production at 32.13 million tonnes, accounting for about 56% of the world total production.
