US stainless prices to be mixed in December following raw material fluctuations: American Highlights


We believe that as far as nickel, it is likely that the decline is largely a correction after prices ran up more than they should have on the back of a combination of news of the Indonesian ore ban, which was expected to go into effect at the end of October.

US austenitic stainless steel grades to follow nickel prices downward
Market dynamics have shifted significantly as of late with the 8% month on month decline in LME nickel prices pulling down the raw material surcharges, and therefore transaction prices, for US austenitic stainless steel grades. At the same time, the 9% month on month rise in the cost of iron units, which is largely seasonally related but also a correction after their larger than warranted drop, is propping up December prices for US ferritic stainless steel grades.
