China's aluminium imports from Russia up tenfold y-o-y in January 2019
According to data from China Customs, the country imported 11,185 tonnes of primary aluminum from Russia in January 2019, up tenfold from just 1,109 tonnes in the same time period of 2018. The high imports in January followed the large aluminium inflows witnessed in the final quarter of last year, when more than 56,000 tonnes of Russian material entered into China’s border, including 22,007 tonnes in December only, the largest monthly Russian import since 2016.
