LME aluminium price down 1.8% on the back of stronger dollar: Market Summary and Analysis


According to data from China Customs released last Thursday, the country’s exports of unwrought aluminium and aluminium products totaled 552,000 tonnes in January 2019, up 24.0% year-on-year and 6.2% month-on-month.

LME aluminium price down 1.8% on the back of stronger dollar The weekly average LME aluminium cash price last week was $1,837 per tonne, down 1.8% from the previous week’s $1,870 per tonne. The chief headwind to the base metals complex, including aluminium, seems to have been the stronger dollar (+0.5% on the week).
