OFAC lifted Rusal sanctions on Monday...
The US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced on Monday that it has lifted sanctions on Rusal and other Russian firms linked to Oleg Deripaska, despite a Democratic-led push in the U.S. Congress to maintain the restrictions. The measure follows its notice to Congress on December 19 where the OFAC said it intended to lift the sanctions, given that the three companies had reduced Deripaska’s direct and indirect shareholding stake and severed his control. Oleg Deripaska's shareholding in EN+ has been cut to 44.95% from 70%, and his voting rights has been further reduced to 35% following the sanctions, according to the company. EN+ is also a Rusal shareholder.

Sanctions were first imposed against both Rusal and En+ on April 6, 2018, along with ESE, a wholly owned subsidiary of En+. Rusal is the world’s largest...
