Continued bearish outlook despite eased trade tensions: Iron Ore Market Analysis


The market is downwardly correcting the record-wide Fe grade price spreads we have seen in the past months.

Iron ore fines prices recovered slightly last week after the previous week’s drop. Iron ore prices climbed in the first half of last week and helped the weekly average bounce back by 1.76% from the sharp drop the week before. In the last week of November, the fines benchmark fell 11%, which was the sharpest week-on-week drop we had seen in three years. As we entered December, however, the 62% Fe fines index published by Fastmarkets MB averaged $66.80 per tonne on the week ending Friday December 7.
