The fines benchmark slides further down while pellets spike: Iron Ore Market Analysis


The rising price divergence between different grades and qualities of iron ore has intensified.

The iron ore fines index has fallen the past two weeks while pellet prices have surged. Metal Bulletin’s 62% Fe fines index cfr China fell 1.0% and averaged $66.82 per tonne on the week ending Friday August 24. Pellet prices, however, increased 6.6% over the same period and averaged $158.93 per tonne on the week ending Friday.
