Prices take another hit: Coking Coal and Coke Market Analysis


Buyers paid on average 10% more for premium hard coking coal fob Australia than for lower-tier hard coking coal.

The coking coal price downturn is taking hold as prices drop for a third consecutive week. The price for premium coking coal dropped every single day last week for both fob Australia and cfr China. Metal Bulletin’s premium hard coking coal index cfr Jingtang saw the hardest fall as it tumbled 6.7% week on week and averaged at $200.84 per tonne in the week ending March 30; the sharpest week-on-week drop in nearly a  year.
