ArcelorMittal looks for €40/tonne increase: European Market Highlights
As evidence of European competitiveness, one only need look at market conditions in Europe’s neighbouring markets.
At a time of the year when a various number of traditions are observed across Europe, it only seems fitting that ArcelorMittal has begun the first quarter of 2015 by observing its own tradition an announcement concerning price increases. Stretching back to Q4 2013, Europes dominant producer of coated steels has, virtually without fail, announced price increases in each quarter since. These have been of varying amounts, typically some 20-40/tonne, which in each instance the market has taken note of and then duly ignored.
This time the company plans increases of some 40/tonne on its coated steel products for the coming months. As if to highlight our point made in December that galvanized steel products have once again become higher-margin products these increases are above those planned for the companys other flat steel products such as hot-rolled coil and plate. ...
