EU prices stay at low levels: European Market Highlights
Volumes for construction grades remain weak with plentiful availability.
In a market characterised by a lack of purchasing activity, EU coated prices have stayed flat during August. Southern European ex-works prices are holding at 630-650/tonne ex-works for Z140 1mm material with some sales reported at 620/tonne equivalent for orders from floor stock. Northern European prices have held at around 640-670/tonne for similar material. Substrate HR coil prices have barely moved over the period as well with southern Europe at 510-530/tonne ex-works and northern Europe at 530-550/tonne. These are predominantly for September rolling with lead times still at 4-6 weeks.
UK buyers content to live hand-to-mouth
In the UK, continental mills are now offering for mid-fourth quarter arrivals at around 650/tonne delivered for 1mm material with thin-gauge at around 680/tonne....
