Coated prices drifting downwards: American Market Highlights

HDG continues to suffer from the severe lack of end-user demand and US spot market prices are continuing to drift downwards. Domestic spot market prices are reported to be ranging between $690-700/tonne ex-mill for 1mm thick material with a G90 coating. Higher end G90 material of 0.48mm thickness is being offered at between $855-900/tonne, while G30 of 0.48mm thickness has had offers of $940-990/tonne, both ex mill prices. ...but even low prices fail to attract buyers MBR understands there has been competitively priced offers from India and China, but traders are staying on the sidelines as buyers are avoiding adding to their inventories. We understand that offers for G90 material with a 0.48mm thickness are being made for $840-890/tonne FOB. With Chinese producers under increasing pressure from high domestic steel costs, we do not think Chinese offers will remain competitive and expect to see higher offer prices from China next...
