Firm prices are being maintained in Europe mainly by production cuts as end-use demand is too weak to support prices on its own. There is a threat of oversupply in China.

Coated steel prices have been on the rise again in the USA, Europe and Asia. The month-on-month price gains have been relatively impressive – between $100-150/tonne in many markets – and steelmakers seem set on pushing for additional increases before the end of quarter three.
