With large producers reportedly cutting offers throughout the month, Fastmarkets’ 37% manganese ore index fob Port Elizabeth has fallen to $3.30/dmtu from $4.06/dmtu a month ago and Fastmarkets’ 44% manganese ore index cif Tianjin has dropped to $4.52/dmtu from $5.47/dmtu.

Most stable at present are the markets for chrome ore, where prices remain at just over $150/tonne for South African UG2 ore and at around $205/tonne for Turkish lumpy ore. These values are more-or-less unchanged since early August, having previously been in decline throughout Q2.

Developments in China have been largely responsible for the improvement in European prices, with Chinese tungsten concentrates prices surging to 94,000-96,000 yuan per tonne this month, up from 78,000-81,000 yuan per tonne in September.
