Short term trends are mixed, but nickel stands out as having amongst the best upside potential. Copper could join it, but it looks like Chile’s miners were unscathed by the earthquake.

The fundamental and technical backdrop for aluminium is looking fairly bullish in the short term and we would not be surprised to see further modest price gains.

It is all about the earthquake in Chile at the moment. But it looks like the copper industry was unscathed, so unless another bullish reason emerges (such as a dollar weakness) the knee-jerk rally should be sold into.
