Molybdenum prices peak in the first half of February, with prices expected to trend lower in near term: Molybdenum Highlights


Weakness in the European stainless steel sector, where prices are seen tracking lower nickel prices and alloy surcharges in March, will weigh on the ferro-molybdenum market.

Molybdenum prices started to soften in late February in line with slower spot market demand after rallying to five-month highs on logistical constraints and an active Chinese market earlier in the month. For now, demand is slowing in Asia, which is affecting Europe where suppliers are cutting their offer prices to secure business.

Weakness in the European stainless steel sector, where prices are seen tracking lower nickel prices and alloy surcharges in March, will weigh on the ferro-molybdenum market. That leaves troubles stemming from securing containers and international trade...
