Prices inch up in Italy on Taranto concerns: European Market Highlights


With regards to Europe in particular, we discussed last month the possibility of ArcelorMittal running into difficulties should it continue to operate the Taranto works that it agreed to purchase back in late 2018.

Following the large falls seen over the past couple of months, European steel prices appear to have stabilized in recent weeks. With stabilization occurring in other global markets as well, and indeed significant price increases have been achieved in the USA, there is a sense that the market may have bottomed out in the short term.
