ERW linepipe prices largely unchanged this month
ERW linepipe prices held mainly steady in March as ample supplies were balanced by rising substrate costs. Availability in the market is rather high with buyers able to get all they need in a short lead time. Nevertheless, HR coil prices ended their slide and leveled off after two mill price hikes. This is keeping pipe producer prices sustained as their substrate costs are no longer falling. Previously, producers looking to mover tonnage were offering discounts on the back of their falling costs.
Import linepipe prices fell this month in order to move tonnage. We have noted in the past that offers from quota countries tended to be higher than other import offers in order to make up some ground from lost tonnage sales.
