CIS pig iron prices to continue to follow Brazil downward: CIS Market Analysis


Most of the CIS-origin material is destined to the United States, with competition often bringing the cfr Gulf price below import quotations in Europe during August-September, despite rising demand for imported pig iron in the North American country observed in recent months.

Export prices for the CIS-origin merchant pig iron (MPI) declined in September, according to Metal Bulletin weekly assessments. The CIS market started to weaken since the first week of the month and MPI prices dropped by $13 per tonne on average both in the Black Sea (to $370 per tonne fob) and in the Baltic Sea (to $393 per tonne fob) in September.
