Spot market subdued; large contract price increase expected: Ferro-chrome Highlights


MBR understands that Chinese buyers – by far the most important spot market participants in global terms – have slowed their purchasing as of late.

We highlighted last month the possibility that Chinese ferro-chrome buyers had perhaps brought forward some of their purchasing during the early months of the year and that this could lead to a slowdown in consumption later on. This now appears to be happening, with the traditional pickup in purchasing activity that takes place after the Chinese New Year appearing to have already taken place before the festivities this year.
