Tighter supply keeps prices firm despite weaker demand: Coking Coal and Coke Market Analysis


The unavailability of premium-quality Australian coking coal due to congestion has lifted prices up across the whole coking coal market, not just for premium brands.

Limited coking coal supply from Queensland kept prices firm over the past two weeks, despite fading demand from Chinese mills. The tight supply has lifted the premium coking coal prices up by 3.20% week-on-week as the price averaged $186.81 per tonne fob Australia in the week ending Friday November 17.
