European welded pipe mills have re-entered the market after their summer holidays with higher prices driven by a sharp increase in raw materials costs.

EUROPEAN SEAMLESS MARKET ANALYSIS The market for seamless pipes in the EU looks set to remain rather robust in the remainder of this year. Seamless mechanical pipe prices have increased in Europe by around €30/tonne this month and are at the level of €950-980/tonne for EN10297 E355 grade for October-November rolling. Production activity remains firm and demand conditions will likely remain favourable. MBR understands that many European mills are now taking orders into Q1 2018 in excess of €1,000/tonne. The most recent offers of 3”-7” seamless pipes of E235 grade from Ukraine into Central Europe were at around €950-960/tonne ddp. However, order books for this year are already closed, while sales for the first quarter of next year are not opened yet amid an unclear future trend of the market.
