Prices in China retreat from peak, but remain elevated: Ferro-silicon Highlights
China’s domestic spot ferro-silicon 75% price is around RMB7,400-8,000/tonne ($1,129-1,220), down from the late August peak of RMB8,500-9,000/tonne, but still well above month-ago levels of RMB7,500-7,650/tonne.
After posting impressive gains in through August, on the back of production disruptions due to environmental inspections, Chinese ferro-silicon prices are undergoing a modest downward correction from the recent peak. Although demand from steelmakers remains buoyant as mills stock up in advance of the early October national holiday, the Chinese market has seen more supply in September from Ningxia province, where output has restarted after the completion of environmental inspections.
