China’s crude steel output jumps 6% Y-O-Y in June: Crude Steel Highlights
Higher margins for downstream products owing to sustainable demand at home has prompted accelerated crude steel production in order to take advantage of improved profitability.
Chinas crude steel production continued its upward trajectory in June with data from Chinas National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) revealing that Chinese mills produced 73.23 Mt of crude steel last month, up 5.7% from 69.47 Mt a year earlier. While the output in June is 1.3% higher than Mays 72.26 Mt, it has also outpaced Aprils record high of 72.78 Mt. Data from the NBS further suggests that Chinas daily crude steel output rose to an all-time high of 2.44 Mtpd last month. In fact, in the first half of the year, Chinese mills produced 419.75 Mt of crude steel, up 4.6% year-on-year.
