Vanadium prices surprise to the upside in April: Ferro-alloy Market Analysis
European ferro-vanadium prices improved to $27.60-28.50/kg delivered duty paid in mid-April, up from $25.00-25.50/kg last month.
Ferro-vanadium prices, particularly in Europe, defied our expectations over the past month, with renewed supply tightness propelling prices higher. Supply-side concerns, some justified and some more sentimental, saw European ferro-vanadium prices reach a four-year high during April. The pricing gains were triggered on unfounded supply concerns following a fire at a South Korean plant, which did not materially impact production, as well as a scheduled maintenance closure at Largos Brazilian operations, which also was not an unplanned production disruption.
