European and Chinese prices improving, with US prices poised for gains: Ferro-silicon Highlights


US ferro-silicon spot prices are around $0.75-0.79/lb amid slow business conditions due to dealer vacations around the Easter and Passover holidays.

The European spot ferro-silicon market has consolidated its March bull run in April, with prices narrowing on the low end of their present trading range, against limited availability and steady demand. The market is at a level last seen almost six years ago, according to Metal Bulletin data, and was reported at €1,220-1,350/tonne. Indian exporters are offering ferro-silicon to Europe at about €1,200/tonne cif ($1,150-1,180/tonne cif plus freight and handling costs), and have been successful in getting business.
