Steel production and consumption rising in both Mexico & Canada in early 2017: Mexico and Canada Highlights
Expansion in Mexico’s automotive industry continues to contribute to the country’s steel consumption gains.
Mexican finished steel is off to a strong start in 2017, coming on the back of a positive performance last year. In January, Mexican finished steel consumption gained 9% year-on-year, leading growth among Latin American nations. The impressive January growth follows a 3% year-on-year gain in full-year 2016 finished steel consumption in Mexico, when the country again led steel demand growth for the Latin American region.
Expansion in Mexicos automotive industry continues to contribute to the countrys steel consumption gains. In February, Mexican automotive output posted additional growth, rising 11% year-on-year to 301,475 vehicles. Mexican auto exports jumped 10%...
