US prices improving as domestic industry pushes for trade protection: Silicon Metal Highlights
Lower offshore supply from markets such as Brazil has encouraged US traders and suppliers to push up domestic prices.
Lower availability for prompt shipment has pushed up offer prices in the US silicon metal market, a move seen developing into a trend in the coming weeks as heavy industry and manufacturing look to peak output ahead of the slower seasonal months of the third quarter. US silicon metal (Si 98.5%) prices are up to $1.01-1.03/lb from $1.00-1.02/lb in February.
