European prices climbing on tight supply and stronger demand: Ferro-silicon Highlights


US ferro-silicon 75% prices have been flat over the past month at $0.77-0.78/lb despite several domestic traders pushing their offer prices as high as $0.79-0.80/lb but being rebuffed by consumers in the steel sector.

Ferro-silicon prices in Europe have hit a 20-month peak on persistent supply tightness in Europe, and further gains are likely as suppliers intend to increase their offer prices in response to market conditions. Market spot prices are €1,225-1,250/tonne, up from €1,150-1,200/tonne last month, and at their highest level since July 2015. We understand the latest deals are being done around the top of the current range.
