Offers of J/K55 from Tier one mills remained unchanged at around $750/tonne FOB China from a month ago.
Seamless prices stable post Chinese New Year
Chinese seamless OCTG and linepipe prices have remained relatively stable in early February, despite fluctuations in the substrate market after the weeklong Chinese New Year.
Offers of J/K55 from Tier one mills remained unchanged at around $750/tonne FOB China from a month ago. Chinese pipe makers were reluctant to lower offers on temporary substrate retreats, as they had seen their margins being squeezed hard for a long time in late 2016 restricting their ability to make any profits. Production rates at seamless pipe mills was kept low in the January-February period, which is common as this is a slow period for domestic consumption in the countrys OCTG and linepipe markets. The Spring Festival holiday also lower mills production in January.
