Global aluminium demand growth slower in H2, but still holding above 4% pa
Much of the talk of aluminium demand in the past few months has been on a slowdown in usage; not on a dramatic scale, more a slow erosion. MBR revised its 2016 growth projections to 4.1%, followed by 4% in 2017. These are slower rates than have been observed in the aluminium sector for years, but hardly relate to a collapse; end use fundamentals for aluminium remain relatively strong.
WBMS shows contraction in global demand of 0.8% in year to August
The World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS) released its monthly data set last week. The organisation is now showing a y-o-y contraction in usage of 0.8% for the year to August, on the back of -0.4% growth in H1 and -0.1% growth in the year to July. But why are these numbers...
