Price increases continue on tightening supplies: European Market Highlights
Following an increase of some €20/tonne between mid-February and mid-March on average prices of hot-dipped galvanized material (HDG) in Europe, further increases of around €40/tonne have been achieved by Europe’s steelmakers over recent weeks.
What a difference a few months make. Having concluded 2015 with its largest ever net loss, and indeed fourth consecutive year of net losses, ArcelorMittal has enjoyed a good start to 2016, along with Europes other leading coated steel producers. That has continued with force as the second quarter of the year has begun and sentiment seems to be that the good times will last for a while yet.
Indeed, following an increase of some 20/tonne between mid-February and mid-March on average prices of hot-dipped galvanized material (HDG) in Europe, further increases of around 40/tonne have been achieved by Europes steelmakers over recent weeks. Average HDG prices are up to around 455-460/tonne as a result.
