Low coke prices enable higher lump consumption in BF: Iron Ore Market Analysis


Construction activity in northern China has waned over the past few weeks due to the onset of wintry weather.

The continuous ramp-up of production from relatively low-cost iron ore mines, particularly in Australia and Brazil, has continued to remove support from major seaborne iron ore benchmarks. Brazilian iron ore exports climbed 7.4% year-on-year to 34.14Mt in October. At the same time, major Chinese iron ore port stocks increased 0.55Mt over the past week to 86.55Mt in the week ending on Friday 13th November, partly owing to seasonal restocking and partly to traders speculating on a recovery in domestic steel production.
