Chinese OCTG and linepipe prices hold: Asia Market Analysis
MBR understands that seamless pipe production in China in the month of September was 2.27 Mt, according to data from China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Chinese local and export prices have rolled over this month, somewhat exonerating our expectation last month that Chinese mills had been struggling to drop prices below the record lows already witnessed so far in the fourth quarter, because of mounting losses, particularly at the billet level. However there is also some indication that the abatement in some of the price declines in Chinese seamless material may be due to an effort of Chinese mills to reduce output, and thereby improve sentiment at least towards pricing.
