Easing on property market reflects glut concern: Coking Coal and Coke Market Analysis


Unlike iron ore, where local production is finally falling, coking coal exporters to China are facing more squeezes from cheaper, Chinese domestic supply.

Seaborne coking coal prices moved downward in tandem with iron ore during the past week, as demand faltered amid recent steel but especially coke production cuts. To combat possible deflation and to boost a wobbly property market, the People’s Bank of China and the Ministry of Finance on Monday 30th March released easing policies respectively, including a cut of the required down payment for second homes from 60% to 40% and an exemption from a sales tax for those who have held a property for two years or more.
