Rising Chinese supply impacts on fundamentals: Coking Coal and Coke Market Analysis


Manufacturing indicators parted ways, with some improvement seen in February.

Though steel mills after the week-long Chinese New Year will do some restocking, there’s no support so far for seaborne metallurgical coal prices, especially when Chinese domestic market prices are cheaper and supply available. More mills have turned to the domestic coking coal market for restocking, though this restocking is less pronounced than usual due to a continued curb in steel production.
