Prices on course to follow finished steel: Iron Ore Market Analysis


So far, Chinese steelmakers have continued to curtail production, and by more than usual at this seasonally depressed time of the year.

A second interest rate cut by China’s central bank, the People’s Bank of China, came a little sooner than the market had expected late last week. Though seaborne iron ore prices were largely unaffected at the time of writing, we can expect that sentiment will improve shortly. MBR understands that the broader-based policy is a clear sign of weak sentiment within Beijing and the government’s growing concern that it needs to be more active in arresting China’s flagging economic growth.
