Aluminium prices back below $1,800/tonne: Market Summary and Analysis
RTA expects to build a new plant in Alouette, Canada and also expand its current 60 ktpy AP60 in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec, once the metal price returns to a suitable level.
Aluminium prices have fallen back into a flat to weaker trading pattern with prices dipping below the $1,800/tonne level again. Trading has been quiet on the LME and with the China New Year holiday in full swing that is not surprising, but there does seem to be some weakness emerging in the physical market with premiums coming under more downward pressure in Japan and Europe and some early indications that US Midwest premiums are falling too.
