Little upside risk to prices prior to China holidays: Iron Ore Market Analysis


The anticipated short-term upside risk to iron ore benchmarks from restocking activity, which has almost come to an end, prior to the national holidays has so far failed to materialise.

Daily spot iron ore prices fell below the $80 level over the past week, as bearish sentiment and relatively high port stocks continued to subdue the market. Sentiment at the Dalian iron ore conference last week was particularly pessimistic with many industry participants reluctant to speculate on the timing of a potential recovery of iron ore benchmarks, given the likelihood of further declines.
