Demand AnalysisGlobal aluminium demand up by 6.4% over the year to July: WBMS The World Bureau of Metal Statistics has recently published its latest set of data. In summary the group puts year-to-July global aluminium demand growth at 6.4%, compared with H1 growth of 6.6%. The slowdown moving into summer may have been marginal, but is it setting a precedent for the numbers to come for the remainder of Q3? Anecdotal evidence suggested that in many regions aluminium consumers went into Q3 still panicking about metal supply. LME prices were on the rise at the time and consumers were eager to go into the summer with their stock levels in order. But over the course of the summer the mood switched in some regions, leaving end-use aluminium consumers a little unsure of how their order books might be looking, and just how much aluminium they might need.
