Europe sees renewed demand from Turkish mills: Scrap Highlights


MBR understands that most Italian steel producers ensured scrap inventories were adequately replenished in late July, prior to the start of the holiday period.

Despite most European market participants using the seasonal lull across much of the steel industry to take annual vacation, MBR understands that scrap market pricing developments have been unseasonably active for this time of year. In fact, we believe some German mills have maintained normal operating rates through August; benefitting from firm order books which have been driven by firm manufacturing and construction activity.
